This carved emu egg is Karen Myers tribute to Easter and shows Christ's ascent into heaven three days after his burial and resurrection. The artist has utilized the various layers of color inherent in the emu egg to give texture and depth to this rendition of Christ's ascension into heaven. The detail work is outstanding. As can be seen from the side panel of the egg shown below, there is extensive cut-out work featuring dogwood. Lily of the Valley is also carved extensively throughout the egg and white trumpet lilies are applied to the back and top, which also features a Dove.
