Lucille J. Schacht
If you ever visit the home of
Lucille J. Schacht, the first thing that will catch your eye
is her huge collection of eggs. "Right now I have about
50 or so eggs made by other people and I have that many more
that I made myself." Like most eggers, Lucille started
out using non-copyrighted designs other people did before
learning to design her own. Lucille became interested in
egging after seeing Olen Robertson displaying his carved eggs
on the Discovery Channel. She taped the show and replayed it
several times before deciding that she could do this herself.
A trip to the craft store and she brought home some empty
goose eggs to practice on. "I watched the tape again and
decided to make all circles in the egg. Surprisingly, it came
out quite nice." Lucille visited her first egg show in
1996 and was amazed at the decorated eggs. Since then she has
done hundreds of eggs herself, mostly as gifts for friends and
family at Christmas or birthdays. Looking at these eggs, I
have to say they are very lucky.
